FAW Introduction to Futsal Coaching Certificate

FAW - Introduction to Futsal

There is research to demonstrate the value of Futsal as a development tool for helping young football players of all ages and abilities to improve. Futsal is a small sided game with teams of 5 so players get greater number of opportunities to be in posession of the ball and make decisions. At the youngest age groups, with the introduction of 4 v 4 and 5 v 5 Mini Football at U7 and U8 age groups, there is a direct relationship between Mini Football and Futsal.

Futsal will help increase players technical proficiency on the ball, vision and awareness, game understanding and decision making under pressure. It will also support motor development of fundamental movement patterns, (ABC’s) as players are constantly moving and changing direction in a small playing area.

Coach education will be a crucial part in the development of Futsal in Wales and this course is an ideal opportunity for grass roots coaches to get an understanding of Futsal so that it can be integrated into the training programs of players to enhance their development. A number of courses will be available throughout Wales so to find out about up and coming courses contact
