Nearly 100 Muslim players enjoy Midnight Ramadan Football sessions

There are already plans to do it all again next year

Muslim communities across South Wales came together for an innovative Ramadan Midnight Football project.

Race Equality 1st, the Football Supporters’ Federation and South Wales Police joined us in delivering weekly twilight football sessions in Cardiff during the Muslim holy month.

The five-week project was based at the Cardiff City House of Sport and Butetown Pavilion and was created to keep players of all ages active at a time when many Muslims find daytime football difficult due to fasting from dawn until sunset.

The sessions, which ran from midnight until 2am, attracted nearly 100 players each week, strengthening the relationships between participants and the project delivery partners.

After a successful start to the programme, plans are already being made to replicate it next year.
