Here's why you should vote for Johnston FC's Emily Ardran for the People's Award 2017

It's time to cast your vote for the biggest award in Welsh grassroots football

Emily Ardran (Johnston FC) – West Wales FA

Emily has shown incredible commitment to football in her area for nine years.

She started attending matches with her daughters when they were age six and seven and quickly caught the bug.

Soon after she persuaded the secretary of one of the boys teams in her area to start a girls’ section.

She pounded the streets handing out flyers placed ads in the local newspapers and, within 12 months, managed to set-up teams at U10, U12, U14, and U16.

Emily was then recruited to support the West Wales Performance Centre, helping to recruit coaching staff with a good knowledge of women and girls’ game.

Her next challenge was to find somewhere for the girls to play once they turned 16, as there were limited options in the area.

After months of meetings she helped to create Haverfordwest County AFC Ladies Team, who have now completed their second successful season providing further opportunities for females of all ages in the area.

Despite never kicking a ball in her life, Emily has achieved an incredible amount, and contributed hugely to women and girls football in West Wales.
