The Welsh Football Trust coordinates and delivers 2 disability football coach education courses, details of which can be found below. If you would like to attend any of the advertised courses please complete an application form (found below) and return, along with payment, to the contact detailed.

FAW Coaching Footballers with a Disability

Cost: £30

A six hour course providing coaches with an insight into adapting coaching sessions for disabled footballers in a fun and safe environment. The course will assist, supplement and support the coaches existing experiences in this field.

Learning Outcomes:
• Understand available playing opportunities footballers with a disability
• Look at issues relating to communication
• Be able to utilize appropriate language and terminology
• Have knowledge of what specialist equipment is available for players
• Be able to identify key issues when working with players with a particular disability
• Have an insight into planning & organizing well structured activities
• Demonstrate an awareness of health & safety issues
• Know how to get further training & support

FAW Coaching Deaf Footballers Course

Cost: £30

The course provides coaches & teachers with ideas, guidance & practices for the inclusion of deaf players within mainstream or impairment specific football sessions.

Learning Outcomes:
• Apply & extend existing coaching skills & experience to meet the needs of players
• Feel confident in coaching deaf footballers
• Improve awareness of deafness & provide better understanding of the needs of deaf footballers
• Use basic communication skills for coaching deaf footballers
• Use basic British Sign Language signs appropriate to coaching football sessions
• Identify appropriate safety & medical considerations
• Plan a range of coaching sessions that include deaf footballers
• Understand how to include deaf footballers in a match situation
• Understand the player pathways available for deaf footballers including the appropriate structures for competition
